Résumé
The story follows the eccentric German Professor Otto Lidenbrock, his nephew Axel, and their Icelandic guide, Hans.
After discovering a coded manuscript by a 16th-century explorer, the professor believes there is a passage to the Earth's core through an extinct volcano in Iceland.
The three adventurers descend into the volcano, facing numerous perils and discovering a subterranean world with a sunless sea, prehistoric creatures, and ancient forests.
They do not reach the Earth's center, but are instead ejected to the surface through an eruption in Italy.
