Résumé
The story is narrated by François Seurel, the son of the village schoolmaster, who recounts the arrival of a charismatic and adventurous new student, Augustin Meaulnes, at his school.
One day, Meaulnes disappears and wanders off, discovering a mysterious, magical fête at a remote estate.
He falls in love with a beautiful young woman, Yvonne de Galais, there. The rest of the novel follows Meaulnes's and François's attempts to find the lost domain and the woman Meaulnes loves.
The story explores themes of youthful idealism, lost innocence, and the nature of memory.
