Summary
In Thuvia, Maid of Mars, the torch of adventure passes from John Carter to his son, Carthoris of Helium. Though not as experienced as his father, Carthoris proves himself a worthy heir to the Carter legacy in this standalone adventure that blends romance, war, and Martian mysticism.
The story begins with Thuvia of Ptarth, a noble Martian princess and former ally of John Carter, being kidnapped in a politically motivated plot designed to pit two Martian kingdoms against each other.
Though Carthoris is framed for her abduction, he sets out across the red planet to rescue her and clear his name.
As Carthoris braves the dangers of Barsoom’s deserts, ancient ruins, and strange creatures, he discovers the lost city of Lothar, inhabited by a race of telepathic beings who can project illusions so real they can kill.
There, he must navigate a war between real and imagined threats—all while fighting for Thuvia's freedom and her love.
But Thuvia is no helpless damsel.
She’s brave, quick-witted, and holds a mysterious power: the ability to command the terrifying banths—Martian lion-like beasts—through telepathy.
