Summary
After surviving a shipwreck, Edward Prendick finds himself stranded on a mysterious island governed by the enigmatic and unsettling Dr.
Moreau, a scientist exiled for conducting gruesome experiments.
Prendick soon discovers that Moreau is creating grotesque human-animal hybrids, known as the Beast Folk, through vivisection and forced evolution.
Bound by "the Law" imposed by Moreau, these tortured creatures struggle between their animal instincts and imposed humanity. As the thin veil of civilization begins to fray, Prendick is drawn into a moral and existential nightmare—questioning not only the limits of science and ethics, but also the very nature of humanity itself.
The island descends into chaos as control over the Beast Folk crumbles, culminating in a harrowing escape and a deeply changed worldview for the narrator.
