From the Earth to the Moon; and, Round the Moon

In From the Earth to the Moon, American Civil War artillery enthusiasts, led by the bold and eccentric Impey Barbicane, propose an audacious plan: to launch a projectile to the Moon using a giant cannon.

With the support of international backers and engineers, they construct the Columbiad, a massive space gun in Florida.

The story escalates when Barbicane, his rival-turned-friend Captain Nicholl, and a daring French adventurer named Michel Ardan decide to enter the projectile themselves and become the first humans to travel to the Moon.

The sequel, Round the Moon, follows their journey as they orbit the Moon, experiencing weightlessness, cosmic wonders, and narrowly surviving dangers in space—all while hoping to return safely to Earth.
