Summary
Set in a distant future, Armageddon—2419 A.D.
tells the story of Anthony Rogers, a 20th-century man who is accidentally thrust nearly 500 years into the future after being trapped in a mine and exposed to a mysterious radioactive gas. He awakens in the year 2419 to find America no longer the world power it once was, but a fragmented and oppressed land under the control of the Han, a technologically advanced Asiatic empire that has conquered North America.
Rogers quickly joins forces with scattered bands of hardy American rebels known as the gangs, who have been waging a guerrilla war against the Han overlords for centuries.
With his modern (by 20th-century standards) tactical knowledge and leadership skills, Rogers becomes an instrumental figure in organizing and revitalizing the resistance effort.
This fast-paced pulp adventure combines speculative technology, aerial battles, and themes of freedom, nationalism, and resistance.
It’s best known as the origin of Buck Rogers, one of science fiction’s first iconic space heroes.
